ABOUT THE SHOW

We Will Rock You is a jukebox musical written by Queen and Ben Elton. It is set to the music of the infamous rock band Queen. The story is set in a dystopian future where Earth has been renamed ‘iPlanet.’ In this world, creativity and individuality are banned, and musical instruments are forbidden. Posession of an instrument would lead to incarceration by the Globalsoft Corporation. Globalsoft’s CEO is the Killer Queen, the story’s main antagonist. She is joined by sidekick Khashoggi, together they strive to create a uniform, and totally boring, digitised world.

The plot follows a young rebel called Galileo Figaro. He hears strange words and noises and songs in his dreams— which are actually fragments of long-lost rock lyrics. He soon meets Scaramouche, a kindred spirit who also feels out of place and lonely. Together, they escape from Globalsoft and meet Brit and Oz, two leaders of a rebel group called the Bohemians. They have dedicated their lives to uncovering the hidden spirit of rock music and separating themselves from the Killer Queen’s control.

The Bohemians believe that a Bright Star, known as the ‘Dreamer’ will bring back rock and roll. As Galileo’s dreams intensify, he, along with help from the Bohemians, piece together the location of the hidden “axe,” (an electric guitar buried in a now-ruined Wembley Stadium). Galileo finally unlocks the spirit of rock, defeats the Killer Queen with his music, and restores Rock and Roll to the world.

Filled with iconic Queen hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Somebody to Love,” and “We Are the Champions,” We Will Rock You is a tale of individuality, rebellion, and the spirit of Rock and Roll.
